LANX dates its beginning to 26 July 2016, when a letter prompted its founder, Marv, to spend six months looking at shoemaking across 10 countries. His grandfather Alberto moved to Lancashire from Italy after the war, and from 1971 Marv's grandparents made furniture in their garden shed, where Marv helped in the school holidays. Back in March 2017, Marv began making his own footwear. LANX went live in May 2018, and he sold it from market stalls around north-west England until 2020. LANX is based in Whalley in the Ribble Valley, where it has its own factory, and works with partner factories in the UK and overseas. It also has a shop in Manchester's Northern Quarter.

Had you heard of LANX before today?

Only the LANX styles listed here have been checked as made in Britain. Its 365 and 1985 collections, loafers and boat shoes are made elsewhere.

Where they're made

England

Made in Britain: LANX says the styles shown here are made in England. It doesn't say which of its factories makes which, so we show England rather than a town.

Made in Britain — how we know

LANX's manufacturing page says its Artisan collection is handmade in England and lists Craftsman under the UK; both collection pages are headed Made in England. Any style from outside those collections is listed only if its own product page says made in England. Checked October 2026.
