Launer

Launer has kept to British manufacturing for more than fifty years. In 1981 Gerald Bodmer rescued the company, and it held on to its factory in Walsall, in the West Midlands, where Launer's atelier still is today. The factory is an Edwardian building that was once used for making leather bridles, and Launer makes every one of its handbags, purses and wallets there. Each piece is put together by one craftsperson, its edges are turned, and everything is inspected before it leaves the factory. Launer runs apprenticeships, and many of its craftspeople have been there for years.
The leather goods
Shown here are the Traviata top-handle handbag and the Hatherton Weekend bag, suede-lined in Scotch grain leather and named after Launer's Walsall atelier, alongside the Eight credit card wallet and the Slim six credit card holder.

Where they're made
Walsall, West Midlands
Made in Britain at Launer's own factory in Walsall, West Midlands, where it says every handbag, purse and wallet is made by hand. The gold-plated brass rope emblem is made in Italy.
Made in Britain — how we know
In October 2026 we read Launer's own website: its introduction and British Manufacturing pages say every piece is handmade in England, in a single factory, and its heritage and Hatherton collection pages place that factory in Walsall. The Hatherton Weekend bag's own page says it is made in Launer's British atelier.
