Savernake Knives

A Savernake knife-maker in a canvas apron polishing a knife handle on a bench buffing wheel in the workshop

Savernake Knives makes kitchen knives by hand in a workshop in Wiltshire. By its own account, the whole job happens there, from picking out the steel to putting on the final edge. That includes the heat treatment: the blades are hardened in-house to 60 HRC, with a nitrogen atmosphere and cryogenic treatment. The steel itself is a Swedish grade called 14C28N.

Kitchen knives

Chef's, santoku, nakiri and paring knives, each made by hand in Savernake's Wiltshire workshop from Swedish 14C28N steel and hardened there too.

Only the knives shown here are covered. We haven't confirmed where any other Savernake knives are made.
