Black-and-white photo of a Grenson worker's hands pressing a metal cutting die onto a sheet of leather to cut heel pieces by hand in the factory

Grenson's story starts in 1866, when William Green began making shoes in a loft in Rushden, Northamptonshire. In 1895 the business moved to Queen Street, and in 2013 it moved again, into a new factory. Today Grenson splits its footwear into two lines. G:One is made by hand in the company's own Northamptonshire factory, from raw leather through to the boxed pair. G:Two is designed and developed by Grenson, then made by partner factories overseas. Apart from the sneaker, sandal and stitchdown collections, every Grenson shoe is Goodyear welted.
