A maker's hands cutting a strip of black leather against a metal rule on a workbench in the Owen Barry workshop

Owen Barry has been manufacturing in Somerset for more than 75 years, and everything is still made there. Home is a workshop at the Tanyard on Leigh Road in Street, where every product on the website is cut by hand and made up. Owen Barry once tanned its own skins at the Tanyard, but that step now happens elsewhere: the leather comes from specialist tanneries in the UK and Europe, and other materials are sourced locally where possible, sometimes from abroad. The workshop is open to visitors too, with factory tours by appointment.

Where they're made

Street, Somerset

Made in Britain at Owen Barry's workshop at the Tanyard, Leigh Road, in Street, Somerset. The leather comes from UK and European tanneries, and several pieces use Italian metal hardware.

Made in Britain — how we know

In October 2026 we read Owen Barry's FAQ, About and factory tours pages, which say every product is hand cut and made in its Somerset workshop in Street. Product pages for its bags, a belt and a purse say the same.
