The British Belt Company

Made in BritainUppingham, Rutland

The British Belt Company works from its own factory in Uppingham, Rutland, where it says belts are designed and made from start to finish under one roof. It works in full grain leather, buying its skins from tanneries approved by the Leather Working Group, and it says leftover leather scraps are reused rather than thrown away. Alongside belts under its own name, its website also sells belts under a second label, Sophos.

The leather goods

Men's belts sold under The British Belt Company's own name, in full grain leather and described on their own pages as made by hand in England: the Thistleton, with a nickel-finish pin buckle and bevelled edge, and the casual Ellison.

Only the belts shown here are confirmed as Made in Britain. Other belts on the site, including Sophos-labelled ones, may be made elsewhere.

Where they're made

Uppingham, Rutland

The belts shown here are made in England, at the company's own factory in Uppingham, Rutland. Not every belt on its website is made there.

Made in Britain — how we know

Each belt's own product page, checked in October 2026, gives the United Kingdom as its country of making and says it's made by hand in England. The company's About Us page places its factory in Uppingham. We didn't rely on the site-wide badge, which also appears on an Indian-made belt.
