Loake

Brothers John, William and Thomas Loake started the business in 1880, in an outbuilding at Thomas's house on King Street, Kettering. In 1894 it moved to Wood Street, into what was then called the Unique Boot Factory, and Loake still makes shoes in that building. Today it also has its own factory in India. During the First World War it made boots for the British army, and in 2007 it received a Royal Warrant from the Queen, followed by one from the King in 2025. It opened its first shop on London's Jermyn Street in 2011 and a new flagship there in 2022. Andrew Loake retired in 2019, handing over to managing director Andrew Cory.
