Blackhorse Lane Ateliers

A worker in a denim apron walking down the Blackhorse Lane Ateliers factory floor, with raw denim jeans hanging from an overhead line and sewing tables either side

Blackhorse Lane Ateliers was founded in Walthamstow in 2016 and describes itself as a London maker of craft jeans. Its factory is at 114b Blackhorse Lane, E17, where it trains local machinists and runs its own wash lab, and the brand invites visitors to come and see where the jeans are made. London runs right through the line-up: every jean style is named after a London postcode. The denim is woven in Japan, Italy, Turkey and Spain, the labels are woven in Wales, and it offers free in-house denim repair.
