Aero Leather Clothing

Aero has been a family business in the Scottish Borders since 1981, and works from Greenbank Mill on Huddersfield Street in Galashiels, where its factory and showroom can be visited by appointment. It recreates jackets from the 1930s and 1940s, and some patterns are based on originals from the wartime Aero Leather Clothing of Beacon, New York. There's no production line: each panel and lining is cut by hand, one at a time, and a single machinist sews each jacket on a walking-foot machine, then signs the label. Every finished jacket goes through a 28-point inspection. Hides left over from the made-to-order work go into a lower-priced ready-to-wear line, sewn by the same machinists.
Clothing
Shown here are Aero's own made-to-order jackets: the Highwayman and Cafe Racer, pictured in black Chromexcel horsehide from Horween in Chicago, and reproductions of the USAAF A-2 in horsehide and the lightweight B-6 in sheepskin.
Only Aero's own jackets are shown here. The other brands' clothing the shop also sells isn't included.
